Seed containing the Roundup Ready® gene cannot be saved for replanting.
All Roundup Ready® soybeans are protected under U.S. patents. Saving Roundup Ready® soybean seed for replanting is a violation of these patents and is illegal. Seed piracy also hinders the development of future technologies and their benefits for the soybean industry. A person who helps a grower save Roundup Ready soybean seed for replanting is also infringing the patents and is contributing to violation of the terms under which the seed was sold.
There is a “No Saved Seed” policy on any seed with Monsanto patented traits or seeds, including conventional seeds containing a Monsanto or Monsanto Affiliate germplasm patent. Check out the soybean characteristic chart for all patented varieties. They are indicated with an asterisk.
Planting “New Seed” each year will enhance your farm profits. “New Seed” is the latest genetics on the market grown and conditioned with high germination and seed quality standards. We back up our products with an extensive research program each year so we can provide our customers with information on how these new varieties will work in their particular area. Yield trials have proven that “New Seed” produces 2 to 3 bushels per acre more than bin run seed. When you plant “New Seed” each year you also have the opportunity to purchase the newest genetics with the characteristics that produce higher yields.
Seeds containing the Roundup Ready® trait are protected under numerous United States patents, including Patent No. 5,352,605. It is unlawful to save Roundup Ready Soybeans for planting or transfer to others for use as planting seed.
